Kris Cook holds a B.S. in Psychology & Education (Northeastern University) and an M.Ed. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL; Lesley University). Prior to joining the General Concentration of the Linguistics Department at Georgetown in 2020, she taught for over a decade in a variety of contexts (e.g., ESL in Japan, study abroad in Spain, U.S. K-8 public schools, online ESL lessons internationally), including as a Lecturer for the Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction program in the College of Education at Purdue University. Kris Cook was President (2022–2024) of the Georgetown Linguistics Student Association .
After graduating from Georgetown University in May 2025 with a Ph.D. in Linguistics, Dr. Kris Cook is now the Director of the Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Program in Cognitive Science and an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University.
Her primary research interests include applied psycholinguistics, communication and technology, multilingualism in romantic relationships and families, as well as cognitive and affective factors in second language learning.
