Off-Campus Talks and Other Events

  • NIH Neuroscience Lecture Series, every Monday at noon
    . . . lectures and discussions with leading neuroscientists.  Sponsored by NINDS, NIMH, NIDCD, NIDA, NEI, and NICHD, this year's series offers advances that span the areas of molecular, cellular and organismal neuroscience. Held on the NIH campus every Monday at noon in the Lipsett Amphitheater, Building 10.

Jobs and Internships

  • American Psychological Institute Summer Science Program  A 9-day,
    intensive program designed to immerse students in the science of psychology. The 2003 Summer Science Institute will be held at Washington University in St. Louis from June 14 through June 22. Application deadline February 6.
  • Summer Training on Aging Research Topics-Mental Health Fellowship  Funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), this is a national program that offers competitive scholarships to undergraduate, graduate and medical students who may be interested in aging and mental health research. Deadline is Jan 15.
  • Summer Internship Program (SIP) in Biomedical Research at NIH
    The National .Institutes of Health sponsor many internships every summer, many related to Cognitive Science.  Here is one place to begin your search.  Application deadlines vary by institute, but some are as early as February and, in general, the earlier you apply the better.
  • Office of Naval Research Paid Summer Internships Application deadline is Jan 10, though might be extended.  Opportunities in a number of states, including DC.  http://www.awu.org/onr/
  • Teach for America 
    This program provides post-graduate opportunities to provide service and gain experience.  An opportunity to understand the mind by working with young people who are in in need of mentors and teachers.  See this website for a schedule of presentations taking place in DC.
